MY MARAE POEM
Woke up at the marae
Bursted out a foggy yarn
Everyone sleeping
As tired as a big bear hibernating
I hear bears outside
Don’t worry just my belly
Sit in my sleeping bag
Waiting for everyone to get up
The sun is a sloth on fire
as it slowly rises up

moe te tangata
Ka rite ki ngenge rite te pea Moehōtoke nui
rongo ahau pea Baer waho
Kaua e manukanuka tika toku kopu
Noho i roto i toku peke moe
Tatari hoki te katoa ki te tiki ake
Ko te ra ko te momo poturi ki te ahi
